THE PHILIPPINE MINISTRY - A SHORT BIOGRAPHY
We just arrived from Laturan with a team of ushers and musicians. There are 44 people
received the word and accepted Jesus as savior and Lord. Brother Adrian, gathered his
workers to the church with their working clothes on and muddy footwear. So much hunger of
the word that I didn't waste time to call for an altar call. As the ushers ministered to
them the Lord touched their lives in a wonderful way. Please pray with us for the
explosive growth of that church.
Pastor Adrian was challenged to give his commitment to give each one a bible as the
people express their wish to have one. So the next week, we will be bringing bibles and
conduct a bible studies. The harvest time is NOW upon us. Thanks once again in helping us
to mobilize harvesters for the Kingdom.
There was this letter concerning a trip to Zamboanga del Sur
Dear Brother Jim and Sister Debb,
Greetings in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus.
We've just arrived from Zamboanga del Sur particularly from San Fernando village. The
trip was in the midst of the monsoon rains and muddy trails. The Lord was with us
protecting us throughout the whole trip inspite of the some hindrances. We started to get
ready for the trip at 3 o' clock in the morning. As soon as we were about to leave we
discovered that the hydrobox of the brake system of our ministry jeepney got loose and
need some fixing. God is good that we
found out this before we will be in the midst of nowhere in that early dawn. We need
to get a mechanic at that very early dawn to get it fixed until we found one neighbor who
can did it. Praise God everythings alright the whole trip.
As we arrived the place, we got to cross the river by foot since the bridge is no
longer safe to us.
Followed by a walk through the muddy trails, the team reached the church welcomed by
the excited bible school students with Pastor Danny.
We are so thrilled of the things that the Lord is doing in San Fernando, Zamboanga del
Sur. Pastor Danny has the cream of the crop of batch of students. We are so blessed to
witness the intense spiritual hunger of the students. Some of them are now practicing
voluntary prayer and fasting for two or three days a week. Some of them are making
progress in getting deeper in their devotion and praise and worship. They are also using
the dramas Pastor Kharen taught them.
Please pray for the students for most of them are really came from the very very poor
families.
One student is Daisy, an eleven year old girl , just barely new in the Lord but really
determined to study Gods word. She is the second of the family of five children.
Having forced to stop going to an elementary school due to the physical handicap of both
parents. Her father had been in motorbike accident which left him have a difficulty to
walk. After many months, her mother got nervous breakdown. Her psychomotor-coordination
was being affected and until now we are
believing that she will be completely healed. Please pray for Daisy as she is just
young and new in the Lord , she needs supernatural strength to face these tragic
situation.
Danden is one of the students, who experience deliverance from years of dark
depression due to
strange skin disease on her face. God is healing her now too. George, son of Pastor
Rubio- a pastor in the church where we had the conference has been delivered by some
occasional oppression. He has been rehabilitated from drug abuse and now he is completely
delivered. In short, Pastor Danny got a group of students who has a real encounter of the
saving power of God. I do believe that the apostolic prayer for these students in the
conference made a great difference in their lives.
They are almost done with the first trimester module. In a week or two, they will be
ready to take the second trimester module. So we would appreciate if you will pray with us
for the VHS teaching materials of the second trimester will be converted to VCD format
since what they have is a VCD player which I just bought for them.
With regards to the vegetable farm, the students are helping Pastor Danny to have a
vegetable garden which the time that I was there got their food from the garden. Aside
from the vegetables such as eggplant, string beans, and squash they got some corn on the
farm. Pastor Dannys Tilapia fishpond is a great help to them. They got their
supplies of their food too. What we want to see is that this bible training school will be
self-sustaining and self-supporting of its own.
Pator Jims note:
I want you to note the heart of the ministry so aptly described by Pastor Alex and
that is total dependence on God. I could editorialize much of this but that will take away
from Pastor Alexs description.
The last Letter for now came in Sept of this year, I want you to notice the
enormity of the ministry there
Dear Pastor Jim,
Greeting in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ our Lord. How are today? Hope
everythings alright with you ? Have you come up with the exact dates you are coming here
in the Philippines. We are excited to know. Please tell us in advance so that we can
schedule your visit in our calendar of activities. We had a very successful meeting last
sunday night. Many people attended the Laturan church anniversary although it was raining.
We prayed the prayer of
rededication of the ministry over there. Pastor Adrian preached. I gave an altar call
and almost everybody respond . He was so glad of the support of my team. They got already
an music instruments but they need a a team to be trained. Please pray for their team. We
got home very late about 11 pm. The team was tired yet excited to the new things happening
in our church planting efforts, seeing more churches becoming established. I think that my
team needs to pray for their own financial support as they become so committed to full
time ministry such as Ptr. Ian and Ptr. Kharenn. Workers like them deserved to be
supported as they had already shown exceptional commitment and dedication to the worked
for many years already. Ian and Kharen has a capacity to look for good earning jobs but
they choose to stay in the ministry since it has
begun. Please pray for them as they felt now the pressure. When we had a meetings with
other pastors in our city, we had a interesting observations that many are getting saved
but many workers are going out of the ministry due to financial crunch and pressures due
to the most difficult economic crisis our country is going through ever for the past few
months . Please pray that the local church will learn to support the workers in the Gospel
financially. WE had made an arrangement with Pastor Adrian to start the regular Sunday
meetings at Laturan on the afternoon since its an hour and half going there. I think this
would add the cost for the outreach fund as we send team every week basis over that area
to help them in their worship services before they could have their own team. With this
transition, this means that our sunday morning offerings will begin to need a miracle as
Pastor Adrian has now their own worship service there in Laturan. This is another
challenge of faith in our part to believe to pay the 125 dollars monthly church building
rental aside from the operating expenses to run the ministry. We got also a faith pledge
to pay the 200 dollar monthly payment for the kinder school building aside from the 300
dollar monthly outreach budget for church planting, evangelism and Jesus Film . I am
telling you these so that you can pray with us for the needs of of the mission works here.
If its not the Lord we cant see miracles upon miracles in this mission works. It's just
the Lord making unexpected ways to meet these needs. I just received a text message from
pastor Danny that they are doing now an outreaches and Jesus Film showing with the
students this week. Pastor Nilo was with them running the film showing. They had done an
outreach last week in Molave and now they are now in Ramon Magsaysay. Please pray for
Pastor Danny as he received death threats and persecutions. His water line has been cut
off. They started digging wells but of no success. So they will try to dig another one to
look for water supply. I am looking for expert in installing water handpumps over there.
Please pray for this projects. The water supply will help the fish pond, goat raising, and
duck raising. We've brought bamboo for fences and some hogwires but they need more of
these. The projects for the farm will support the bible school and the church planting
projects if possible over that area in Zamboanga. Imagine if Danny will have 30 goats for
sale for 500 pesos ( 10 dollars) each that would amount to 15,000 pesos ( 300 dollars)
which is enough to send a team for a month to another remote village to plant a churches
or enough to support batch of students to be trained. Many of the students of this batch
could no longer continue because they have to go work in order to eat. So please pray for
for the farm projects. WE've told you that we had a seminar last week in Molave and we
figure out that it would only take 30 dollars to sponsor a one day seminar with free lunch
for more than 30 workers. So we would appreciate if you will pray with us for finances for
another seminar for workers to "upgrade" the workers so that they will be a
cutting edge for the harvest. The next target areas to do some sort of outreaches with
seminars and evangelism will be Tubod and Kabasalan. WE are looking forward to see you
very soon.
In His Service, alex and emma
Much of what you see here will be on our web page soon with more pictures from the
Philippines and the ministry there. I have known Pastor Alex to come in after midnite on
Saturday and be in the service on Sunday AM. He was there not just once but maybe 5 times
before the day is through. Could you do this for the Love of Jesus? Several times in
addition to the home services He will make a several hundred mile trip to be at a service
for one of the other groups there. Bear in mind to support this ministry you will be
supporting more than 50 different out reaches and churches. Pastors are having the lives
of their family threatened but they wont quit.
Pray and see what the Lord might have you do.
Pastor Jim
