Paul Andre, 1830 - immigrated from Prussia in 1848; and was living with Philip Andre, 1819; from Prussia also; as found in the 1850 census for Allegheny Co, PA. Philip was later found living just north of Webster, Rostraver Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA as a landowner in the 1876 atlas. We find a Paul Andree, 1830, ( 2 "e" ) in the 1860 census in Allegheny Co, PA, Mifflin Twp; who was from Germany with wife Elizabeth, 1836 who was from New York. In the 1870 census, Allegheny Co, Elizabeth Twp; we find him as Paul Andre ( 1 "e" ) from Prussia, with wife Elizabeth from Ireland. Their children were James Z, 1857 and John 1859, both born in New York. The children born in PA were Anna, 1861; Suffiah, 1863; Paul, 1865; Thomas, 1868; and David, 1870. What happened to this family? It is remotely possible that Paul, 1865 was the father of my grandfather, Rev Paul Andree, 1879. Paul, 1866 would have been only 13 years old at the time of my grandfather's birth. It has now (6/1/1999) been established by Rev Paul Andree's Social Security application that his father was William Andre. Also, Rev Andree was born in Boston, Allegheny Co, PA. William Andre was listed in the Mt Vernon Church Cemetery as Wm. Paul Andre, 1865; so we can be reasonably assured that William and Wm Paul are one and the same person. Please refer to the obituary for Paul Andre, 1830 for more information. --
