Rebuke the Devil?
Matt.17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

According to Mark 16:17, one of the signs that shall follow those who believe in Jesus, is that they will cast out devils. Unfortunately, I have been in church services where the believers have valiently strived to do just that and failed. Maybe one of the reasons this happens is because we are not very skillful with the weapons Jesus gave us to fight with. I believe one of the things the current move of the Holy Spirit will do is to bring a maturing in this area.

The word "rebuke" means to reprove or reprimand. To stand there saying,"demon, I rebuke you!" may sound good but is as effective as saying, "I golf you." You can say I golfed yesterday but if you are going to golf, you have to go out and play the game. Likewise, to rebuke someone or something, you have to actually reprove or reprimand them.

Mark 1:25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Hold thy peace, and come out of him."
26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
