Salvation

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:17

We have received a lot of prayer requests concerning salvation and while we pray over every one we receive, we wanted to share more about this important issue.

The first thing I want to tell you is that God does not hate you! If you look at the above verse again, it says that God sent His Son so that the world (we) could be saved. Don’t get me wrong. God is a holy God. He hates your sin but He loves you.

"But you don’t know what I’ve done...someone told me I can’t be saved." I hate to tell you this, but someone lied to you. There is only one sin that Jesus can’t forgive and if you want to be saved and have read even this far on this page, you haven’t committed it! How do I know that?

Romans 2:4 says that the goodness of God leads you to repentance. If you are even curious about Salvation, then you can be sure that God is still drawing you to Him.

"But I’ve tried and I can’t be good enough to be saved." Neither can the rest of us. You see, it all started when Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. (You can read about that in the first book of the Bible, Genesis.) Adam was a sinless man and when he disobeyed God, he opened the door to all the evil we now see in the earth. A sinless man had caused the problem and only a sinless man could solve it. The big problem was, there weren’t any sinless men left because all of the people on Earth came from Adam and thus had his sinful nature. That’s why God sent His Son, Jesus.

When Jesus hung on the cross, He took all the sins of the world and covered them with His own blood.

"If that’s true, then why don’t I automatically get saved?" Good question.... Although Jesus took all of the world’s sin on Himself, God has given all men free will. He will not violate it even to save you. You have a choice to make. You can either choose to accept the sacrifice Jesus made for you, or you can reject it.

"So how can I accept it?"  Look at the following verses:

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.          Romans 10: 9,10

This simply means that if you believe that Jesus died on the cross and that God raised Him from the dead, then you can talk to Him. Tell Him that you know you have sinned and done bad things. Ask Him to be your Lord and Savior so that the sacrifice He made on the cross will be for you too. Ask Him to clean you up on the inside and help you start living the way He wants you to.

You might want to pray this:

Prayer for Salvation and Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your word says, whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21). I am calling on you. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10. 'If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.' I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.

I am now reborn! I am a Christian - a child of Almighty God! I am saved! You also said in Your Word, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: HOW MUCH MORE shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?" (Luke 11:13) I am also asking You to fill me with the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, rise up within me as I praise God. I fully expect to speak with other tongues as You give me the utterance. (Acts 2:4)

Begin to praise God for filling you with the Holy Spirit. Speak those words and syllables you receive - not in your own language, but the language given to you by the Holy Spirit. You have to use your own voice. God will not force you to speak.

Now you are a Spirit-filled believer. Continue with the blessing God has given you and pray in tongues each day.

You'll NEVER be the same!
